Walk Fest 2011

Repeatedly chosen as a favourite among Canadian adults, walking is a simple way to stay active, interact with neighbours and prevent chronic disease. Active Pictou County is coordinating a week’s worth of activities to celebrate this body-friendly mode of transportation.

Lunch Time Walk & Complimentary Hearing Screening
Hosted by: Connect Hearing, Highland Square Mall
Time: 1:00 to 5:00 pm
Details: If you enjoy walking in the mall, please stop in and visit Connect Hearing for a Complimentary Hearing Screening.
Hearing loss causes communication problems and leads people to withdraw from family, social and physical activities.
Connect Hearing will be having an open house during this time with refreshments.

Sobeys Turkey Walk - WIN A 15 lb TURKEY!!!
Location: Meet at Gazebo in Carmichael Park, New Glasgow 
Time: 4:00 pm 
Details: Join us for a fun “Munch and Move” 5K walk on the Sampson Trail. Bring your family and friends, strollers and dogs on leash! All participants will receive a ballot for our Thanksgiving Turkey Raffle.

Guided Hike of Trenton Park Trails
Hosted by: Pictou County Active Transportation Committee
Location: Trenton Park
Time: 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Details: A FREE event, suitable for families and individuals; anyone who can hike at least an hour.
A draw will be done for a $50 certificate to Pictou County Cycle at the end.
