Role:
The Active Pictou County Coordinator will report to a multi-sector partnership and will be required to build the capacity of families, schools, local government and community organizations to increase the number of citizens who are active enough to derive health benefits.
Responsibilities:
§ To implement the Pictou County Physical Activity strategy.
§ To provide assistance with development of Active Transportation education initiatives and to serve as an ongoing liaison with the Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection Regional Office on Physical Activity initiatives in Pictou County.
Specifically:
§ Plan and implement workshops and/or special events.
§ Identify training needs within the region, which support community capacity building around physical activity.
§ Identify and coordinate the development of resource materials.
§ Identify current initiatives upon which we may build collaboratively with the sponsoring organization
§ Assist community groups with development of evaluation strategies
Education/Experience/Skills:
§ Degree or Diploma in Recreation, Human Kinetics, Adult Education, Health Education, Public Relations or a related field in addition to three years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
§ Experience in project management
§ Excellent communication, organizational, presentation skills.
§ Computer skills essential. (Familiarity with GIS Software applications would be considered an asset)
§ Knowledge of evaluation frameworks and techniques
Terms and Conditions:
§ This is a full time, 4-year contract (35 hrs week) subject to financial review with the possibility of renewal.
§ Applicants must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Frequent travel will be expected throughout Pictou County. Travel to other parts of Nova Scotia may occur periodically.
§ Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
§ Salary: $38,000 -43,000 plus benefits
